Abraham’s Blessings: Faith Over Kinship

But I’m telling you, that the Israel who were to get the promises, the Israel who was to receive and be blessed in the promises and through the Messiah is not every physical Jew. It’s a physical Jew who has the faith of Abraham. If you don’t have the faith of Abraham, you’re not.

the physical Jew to get blessed in the Messiah.

He says, just because you’re Abraham’s physical kin doesn’t get you in to all the blessings. Because if that were the case, who else would be in? Oh, the Arabs.

Hagar’s boy is Ishmael. He’s the father. She’s the grandmother then. She’s the mother. Her son Ishmael is the father of all the Ishmaelites. If it was only the physical connection to Abraham that got you the blessings and assured that you would get them, they’d all be assured to the Arabs as well. Yeah, but the Jew says, yeah, but that wasn’t his wife. good, good, good, good.

good Paul would say. But you are admitting that it takes more than the skin and blood of Abraham to be blessed. Is that right? Well, yeah, but she was not his wife. She was his servant. Yes, yes, yes, Paul would say. But one more time, the boy was Abraham’s physical child.

Yeah, but still, well, still, takes more than physical kin. Well, okay, you have to be Abraham and Sarah to be the chosen people. Good enough, he says. At least you’re saying that. Then, then, he says in verse 10, and not only this, not only this,

Rebecca. First you have Abraham. He’s got physical kids. Yeah, but they’re not in the Jew, would say. Why is that? Because that one, this wife that was a slave girl. okay. Okay. Now we have Rebecca.

She marries Isaac. She becomes pregnant. And what has she got?

Genesis 25, she’s having serious trouble and she thinks she’s having a miscarriage. And she says, Genesis 25, if that’s how it is with me, then I’m going to have this miscarriage. Why do I live? And God tells her, you’re not having a miscarriage. Nations, two nations are in your womb.

Two babies representing two nations. Two babies are in your womb. The elder will serve the younger. And who are the two babies in the womb? Esau

and Jacob.

Now the Jew was going to get worried. Cause he realizes, good grief.

if it’s simply physical kin.

The Arabs are in. Yeah, but that was his slave girl. Rebecca wasn’t Isaac’s slave girl. She was his wife.

and she bore Jacob and whoever I’m supposed to say Esau. She bore Jacob and Esau. Esau is the physical kin of Abraham.
