He then says in chapter ten, My heart’s desire and prayer to God is
For Israel.
He’s for the Gentiles. He’s a he’s a an apostle to the Gentiles. He’s for them. He makes it his business they offer it the gospel to them. But he’s a Jew. And he loves his people.
And he said, I’m not a renegade Jew. I’m a lover of my people. My heart’s desire and prayer to God, he has sworn in ⁓ chapter nine, one and following, that he loves them. My heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved.
Because I bear them witness they have a zeal for God, but they don’t know what they’re doing.
It’s not just information that’s the problem.
It’s the apostate heart.
Jesus will say to them, How can you believe? He’s talking to the leaders, the leaders, the teachers. How can you believe? Who seek not the honor of God, but the honor of men?
So it’s not just a question of information. well we need we need proof it that we need more information. you haven’t made your case. He says in John 7:17
If a man wants to know the will of God, he’ll know it. If he wants to know if my doctrine is true, he’ll
He’ll know it.
Yeah. It’s a question of heart as well as information. And the people who have rejected God en masse it’s a question of both information and heart. And the heart is shaped in all manner of way.
He said
They being ignorant of God’s righteousness, that is God’s faithfulness, God doing what is right in keeping his covenantal promises.
For they being ignorant of how God expresses his faithfulness down the years.
and seeking to establish their own righteousness have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
They had their own claim.
They didn’t want to give, as the parable has it, they didn’t want to give to the Lord of the land what was due him. And they said no to the servants, the prophets, don’t you see, who God kept sending. They said no to them, no to them, said no to them, and finally they capped it all off when he sent his son. And they killed him and said, He’s the heir, we’ll kill him.
And this’ll be ours. They sought to establish themselves by their own sense of things, which was not only a lack of knowledge, but a lack of heart.
He said they didn’t submit to God’s way of dealing with things.
4, 10:4 Christ is the end of the law, the Mosaic law. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. You see, do you know what happens? When you believe, that is, when you come to Christ and receive him as the Messiah, you no longer
Look to the Mosaic covenant law for your place with God and your blessings in God. That’s the end of it.
