Overcoming Past Baggage

When you became a Christian first, you brought baggage with you. You hadn’t got rid of it all. We’re not going to get rid of it all, but you’ve gotten rid of a lot of it.

You’ve come a long way, haven’t you?

Your prayers have changed. Your the your emotional capacity to rejoice in something that you see in the biblical witness or something that goes along with the biblical witness and you like it. You didn’t always like it. There was a time and a place when it didn’t bother you one way or another. And you might even have I don’t know this, but you might have been bitter at the hypocrisy that you saw or

sometimes thought you saw. But all of that’s away. Not all of it’s away, but a lot of it is away. So much of it’s away. Now you can look at someone and think, yeah, they’re for real. Yeah, they’re doing what’s right. I think it’s a fine thing. Or if they screw it up, you’re able to say, well, they’re like me. I’ve screwed up plenty. And if I am to be forgiven and he wants to forgive me.

I ought to extend it.
