It came out of the dead. He raised life out of a little man whose body was dead, a little woman whose body was dead as far as bearing children, and out of them God raised up. And that Abraham believed that. Abraham would look in the mirror. There’s no text for what I’m about to say. Of course. You look in the mirror and say, Look at you, you’re an old man. You’re only a hundred and hundred and something, let’s say. But he’s about a hundred.
You’re only a hundred for pity’s sake. The father’s lived to be seven hundred and eight hundred and all of that, but you look at you. You are broken down, your old body isn’t up to it, is it? And then he looks at his wee wife who’s sitting over there and she’s all down in the mouth, and he looks at her and she’s barren. We’re never gonna have these children, but God said, Yes, you will. Yes, you will. And out of these two who are dead to that kind of thing, God raises up a nation.
Life from the dead. And Paul will then say in Romans chapter 4, closing out, that Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness.
